Madison Trust for Historic Preservation Award 2014

Single story addition preserving the history and architecture of the home

Historic restoration of a Madison, Wisconsin 1920's lakeside home.

The Worden House is a Colonial Revival style home built in 1920. The City of Madison owned the home for several decades and maintenance had been deferred. The new homeowners were intent on restoring the home to its original look while increasing livability. 60’s picture windows were removed and the original windows and hardwood floors were restored. Mechanicals were thoroughly updated. A single story addition was added to increase the living area while maximizing lake views, and storage space was cleverly added to the original structure.
