This interior renovation to a petite two-story house materialized into this stylish and functional kitchen, an improved stairway, and new birch hardwood flooring throughout the 1st floor. In addition, more windows were added to bring in natural light, which brightened up the space. Eliminating the compartmentalized floor plan opened up the kitchen, dining, and living room to the front entry. Throughout the project, sustainable, locally sourced products were utilized.
The modest footprint of this home made for challenges in designing a workable kitchen. By removing a no longer used chimney, two walls and by adding headers to support the second floor the space was transformed.
An island with a conveniently located wine rack and space for glass storage is perfect for entertaining. Larger windows at the front of the house add balance both inside and out, and allow light to flood through the home.
